Hey, Escape Artists!
One of the things I’ve wanted Crumb Trail Publishing to do from the beginning is make sure stories find their way into the hands of children who will actually read them, laugh with them, talk about them, and hopefully remember them.
Well, we have a new opportunity to do exactly that.
A PreK3 teacher at a Title I elementary school in Dorchester County, Maryland reached out looking for support getting more books into the hands of her students. Her class has 15 little learners, and the PreK3 program is income-based.
She shared this with me:
“Reading at an early age helps build a strong foundation for learning, language, and imagination. Many of my students have limited access to books outside of the classroom, so any donation would make a meaningful difference.”
We Need 15 Books
Our goal is simple: send a book to every child in this classroom.
Through Crumb Trail Publishing’s Sponsor a Little Reader program, I’m looking for two Community Literacy Partners:
One Friend sponsors 5 young readers for $65.
One Advocate sponsors 10 young readers for $130.
Together, that’s all 15 children covered.
Every sponsored child will receive a copy of Nora Escapes the Bakery, and each book includes a personalized sponsorship bookplate recognizing the Community Literacy Partner who helped make it possible.
Where Does the Money Go?
100% of the sponsorship funds for this campaign will go directly toward providing the 15 books for this Dorchester County classroom.
No mystery crumbs disappearing underneath the table. The goal is fifteen children.
Why This Matters
These are young children beginning their relationship with books.
Some of them may already have shelves full of stories at home. Others may not. But inside this classroom, every child deserves the opportunity to hold a book of their own and discover that reading can be funny, adventurous, strange, comforting, and completely theirs.
Nora Escapes the Bakery was created to be more than something children quietly flip through. There are sound-effect words to join in with, questions to talk about, a recipe to try, and opportunities for children to think about courage, mistakes, friendship, and how they respond when things don’t go exactly as planned.
I would love for these 15 little readers to take that adventure with them.
Can You Help Us Get to 15?
We only need:
1 Friend + 1 Advocate = 15 Little Readers
If you’d like to become one of the Community Literacy Partners helping us meet this classroom need, you can sponsor readers through Sponsor a Little Reader at Crumb Trail Publishing.
And if the 15 books are fully sponsored before you get there, don’t worry. There will always be another little reader somewhere along the crumb trail.
Thank you for helping me put stories where they belong: in children’s hands.
Take the adventure with you.
